Change the Game Academy aims at empowering community-based organisations (CBOs) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) all over the world, but especially in low and middle-income countries, to learn to raise funds locally and to mobilise other kinds of support. The programme uses a blended-learning approach: a combination of online and classroom learning. The online learning can be done without taking a classroom course.
WACSI serves as the West Africa implementing partner of the Change the Game Academy programme. The Institute runs the programme to strengthen the capacity of CBOs across West Africa to develop resource mobilisation strategies that create multiple funding streams through utilising local assets and mobilise support for their action.
Ten (10) organisations were selected and benefitted for the pilot phase in 2018.
The use of the tools and skills acquired by the participating organisations during the programme has started yielding results. The organisations are now able to secure funding from individuals, private companies and churches within their communities for their activities.
“During the training, our proposal writing capacity was sharpened which has translated in our ability to raise an amount of GH¢38,000.00 from the Church of Latter-Day Saints for the completion of our proposed four (4) classrooms block project in Dansoman”, Urban Poor Child Organisation (UPCO) – is one of 10 organisations that benefitted from the programme.
