Summary

The West Africa Regional Leadership Centre (RLC) of the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) led by the United States Government and the United States Department of State in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is a long-term effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. It seeks to support young African leaders to spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security, civic leadership and public management across Africa. The program is hosted by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and entails a combination of taught content as well as practical and in-the-field leadership engagements.

Involvement/Role of WACSI

The Institute delivers a set of trainings for the Civic Leadership track at the YALI Regional Learning Centre in Accra – Ghana. The courses include civil society governance, civil society sustainability, proposal writing, policy advocacy and engagement, communicating impact.

Key Achievements

632 YALI Fellows (306 females and 326 males) at YALI Regional Leadership Centre have benefitted from WACSI interventions over the past 4 years.
